Student Teaching Clearances & Out of State Placements
The clearances for the student teaching experience vary depending on the location of the placement. The clearances required for Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania are listed below. These clearances must be completed before the first day of student teaching.
Delaware
- Valid criminal background check.
- Cleared TB test completed within nine months of the start of your student teaching experience.
- Child Protection Registry clearance if not already completed (this clearance is only completed once).

Maryland
- You will need to complete the clearances listed above for Delaware placements if your placement is in the Cecil County Public School District.
- If you will have a placement other than Cecil County, you will need to follow that county’s clearance requirements. Please contact the Office of Clinical Studies for more information.
Pennsylvania
You will need to complete the clearances listed above for Delaware placements and the Pennsylvania required clearances:
- Pennsylvania Criminal History (Act 34)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
- Create an Individual Account and follow instructions
- FBI Clearance (Requires Fingerprinting) Service code 1KG6XN
- Arrest or Conviction Report and Certification Form (Act 24)
