Early Childhood Education Special Clearances
As an Early Childhood Education Major (ECE), you will be placed at the Lab School and possibly the Early Learning Center (ELC). In order to participate in your field placement at these centers, special clearances are required in addition to the Delaware clearances. Comprehensive background checks must be completed on all child care persons. These checks are required under the federal Child Care Development Block Grant Reauthorization Act. Complete these clearances in the following order.
A. Complete your home state clearances: If you currently or have resided in a state other than Delaware during the past five years, you are required to complete home state clearance(s).
- Go to our website to complete your out-of-state (home state) clearances
- If you don’t see your home state(s), please send an email to clinicalstudies@udel.edu.
- If you are a Delaware resident, complete process “B” only.
B. Complete the ELC and Lab School clearances. Instructions for completing the Special Clearances form can be found below.
- Send an email to clinicalstudies@udel.edu and state that you are an Early Childhood Education major.
- Upon receiving your email, the Office of Clinical Studies will send you a Licensed Child Care Criminal History Record and Child Abuse and Neglect Background Check Request Form.
- Print, complete, and email the form to: DSCYF_CHU@delaware.gov.
- DSCYF will email your IdentoGO Service Code and a one-time use No Charge Authorization Coupon code.
- Once you receive your Service Code and No Charge Coupon Code, visit the IdentoGO website, https://uenroll.identogo.com, or call 1-866-761-8069 to schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted. IdentoGO has nine locations for you to choose from. Step by step instructions are provided.
- After you get fingerprinted, hold on to your receipt as proof that you completed the process.
- When the comprehensive background check is completed, an email with the results will be sent to the ELC and Lab School facility.
