Methods Field Experiences Checklist
Methods field experiences build on the early field experiences and provide you with an opportunity to apply what you are learning in your University courses.
The methods field experiences are associated with courses offered during the junior and/or senior years, depending on the teacher preparation program. The experiences include working small groups of learners, teaching lessons, and completing classroom responsibilities. The field placement provides a setting for your course assignments and is a course requirement. Please use the checklist below to ensure that you complete the following tasks before and during the experience.
Please contact the Office of Clinical Studies at clinicalstudies@udel.edu if you have any questions about the methods field experiences.
The Semester Prior To The Methods Field Experience
- Make sure that your criminal background check will be valid during the semester with the field placement.
- Make sure that your TB test will be cleared during the semester with the field placement.
Immediately Prior to the Methods Field Experience
- Review the student responsibilities, which includes the Professional Dispositions of Effective Educators – Candidate Form and Student Code of Conduct. Please note that you were required to acknowledge that you have read and understand the dispositions form at the beginning of each academic year in September. Signing-off on this form indicates your willingness to demonstrate the professional dispositions throughout your tenure in your teacher preparation program.
- You will receive your field experience assignment via email. Record your placement in Taskstream. Taskstream provides you with information about your placements and collects your ratings on evaluations completed by your clinical educators, supervisors, and field instructors throughout your teacher preparation program.
During the Methods Field Experience
- Wear an approved ID badge at all times. This badge consists of a lanyard that you can purchase from the UD Barnes and Noble bookstore, your UD ID card, and a paper insert which an Office of Clinical Studies staff member will provide in class.
- Follow the procedures for signing in/out of the site and maintaining log sheets of your time in the field.
